BORGO DEL DUCA
Borgo del Duca is the new concept of diffuse hospitality that stems from the first renovation and enhancement of Palazzo Del Duca that began in 2015 and that in about 10 years has extended to new properties located along the slopes of the Civita materana that from Via Muro intersect Via San Giacomo.
Along with the rooms along this path, as in a small village, are located the various services, from the hotel restaurant to the courtyard cafeteria, conference room and the soon-to-open spa. All you have to do is come and discover this little corner of peace and genuine hospitality in the heart of the sassi of Matera, counting on a complete offer for a unique experience.

IL PALAZZO
The aristocratic palace belonging to the family, of Bolognese origins, Malvini Malvezzi, as well as Duke of Santa Candida from which “Palazzo Del Duca” originated the entire project in 2017. The Palazzo stands on the scenic Via Muro, a location that has become famous for the cinematic passage of the most important films shot in Matera, from Pasolini to Mel Gibson to the latest 007. The renovation of the Palazzo, after a long period of neglect, allowed the recovery of the history of the place with the renovation of the first 10 rooms. These divided between suites, JS and classic rooms, are both carved out of the tuffaceous boulder and built in external volumes with large vaults. The furnishings feature king-size beds with velvet headboards embellished with capitonné, large crystal chandeliers contrasting with a sober and minimalist décor that recalls the furnishings of yesteryear made of wood, iron and traditional materials. The Palazzo houses the reception and restaurant and is the beating heart of the structure from which everything originated.
LE DIMORE
The result of a subsequent renovation that began in 2023, these rooms are located along Via San Giacomo a few steps from the Palazzo, with one of the most beautiful views of the Sassi and Gravina. The rooms are the result of a major restoration that involved the Spagnulo and Partners studio, giving greater charm to the ancient complex leaning along Via San Giacomo, which from Via Muro opens with an imposing view of the heart of San Pietro Caveoso. The construction of the new rooms has breathed new life into the ancient dwellings that became the home for long years of Matera families who carefully and artfully preserved and handed down the uniqueness of the place. Distinctive features include the original historic diamond ashlar balcony, among the few in Matera, and the original wooden planking fresco that characterize one of the mansion’s rooms, as well as the votive fresco of St. James in Monterrone, lost over the years and recovered during renovation by expert hands. The mansions, in addition to rooms, houses a conference room and a soon-to-open spa.
LE SCUDERIE
In the heart of the Matera civita a few steps from the Matera Cathedral, surrounded by the noble palaces stand, in a large and spacious private courtyard, the stables of the Noha family, the original owners of Palazzo Noha, which today is divided in half between the project of recovering the rooms that have now become a prestigious hotel and the FAI Foundation museum, called precisely Casa Noha. It is one of the most beautiful palaces in the sassi of Matera not only because of its location but also because of the architecture of the spacious and prestigious rooms that evoke the important halls and rooms that once belonged to the family. In addition, the courtyard in which this architectural gem is set is a quiet and peaceful place to be discovered. Today the rooms are being renovated and will soon become an ideal place for comfortable and long stays, given the large spaces that characterize them, but at the same time also reserved and quiet environments because they are far from the frenetic passage of tourists. The works followed by the Spagnulo and Partners studio are nearing completion and will give life not only to the rooms but also to an important conviviality environment in the lamione that is the fulcrum of country life that once characterized the stables of the Noha Palace.
